Indicative Minimum Gross Annual Remuneration
Depending on qualifications, carries an initial net base salary of US$ 46,669.00 per annum (single) and US$ 49,756.00 per annum (with dependant). Post adjustment is applicable in conformity with UN procedure.
Appointments are normally at step 1 of the grade.
The Secretary-General reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a level lower than the advertised level of the post.
DUTY STATION Madrid (Spain).

Duration Of Appointment
If, following consideration of applications, the Secretary-General proceeds to fill this vacancy, a fixed-term appointment for a period of two years will be offered. In accordance with UNWTO
Staff Regulations and Rules, there is no guarantee either that the initial contract will be renewed or that a career appointment within UNWTO will subsequently be offered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Tourism Trends and Marketing Strategies Programme is responsible for providing up-todate analysis and research on tourism trends and forecasts, for identifying and disseminating expertise on effective and innovative marketing strategies and techniques, and for assisting Members in these fields.
Under the supervision of the Manager of the Tourism Trends and Marketing Strategies Programme, the incumbent shall carry out the following main duties:
- identification, compilation, analysis, research, study and production of relevant statistical data and qualitative information on short- and long-term trends, forecasts, destinations and source markets, tourism products and segments
- drafting of reports and notes
- conducting duties in support of other Operational Programmes as well as Regional
Programmes of UNWTO
- coordination and supervision on projects undertaken with external partners
- support Member States in strengthening analytical potential and improving their tourism marketing capabilities and effectiveness QUALIFICATIONS
Academic:
1. Advanced university degree in social sciences, economics or business administration or
related field.
Experience and basic competencies:
2. At least five years progressively relevant experience.
3. Complementary background and experience in research and analysis.
4. Affinity with the analysis of statistical data and qualitative information.
5. Proven skills in reporting of results and drafting of reports and notes.
Languages:
6. Proficiency in English, including a demonstrated ability to draft accurately, clearly and concisely in this language. Working knowledge of other official languages of the
Organization (Arabic, French, Russian or Spanish) would be an asset.
Computer skills:
7. Computer familiar, at user level of Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010 programmes and tools, Acrobat and Photoshop; and advanced user-level knowledge of IT tools related to data analysis.
Other competencies:
8. Positive attitude, flexibility and initiative.
9. Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity
and respect for diversity.
10. Familiarity with UNWTO and the United Nations Common System is an asset.
