LAWCET (Law Common Entrance Test), Andhra Pradesh
Colleges and Universities in Andhra Pradesh conduct and entrance test for admission into 3 year and 5 year LLB programs. The details of the entrance test are given below:
Applications Form and Test Date:
LAWCET application forms are usually made available in March every year.  Last date usually extends to April and the Entrance Test is conducted in May or June.

Eligibility for LAWCET:


A. 3 year LL.B./B.L. Course:
The Candidates for 3 year LL.B./B.L. should have passed any Graduate Degree of a recognized University with 45% of aggregate marks or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Universities concerned.
Age Limit:
Maximum age for seeking admission into 3 year Law Degree Program is limited to 30 years in case of general category of applicants and to thirty five years in case of applicants from SC, ST and other Backward communities.
B. 5 Year LL.B./B.L. Course:
The Candidates for 5 year LL.B./B.L. should have passed two year Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with 45% of aggregate marks or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the University concerned or the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P.
Note: There is a relaxation of 5% of marks in the above qualifying examinations for 3year/5year Law course in favour of
Age Limit:
Maximum age for admission into 5 year Law Degree program is limited to 20 years in case of general category
of applicants and to twenty two years in case of applicants from SC, ST and other Backward communities.
Medium of Entrance Test:
The question paper is set both in English and Telugu.
Qualifying marks in LAWCET:
The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 35% (i.e. 42 marks out of total 120 marks). There are no minimum qualifying marks for SCs and STs for ranking.

LAWCET Syllabus:

The Test is designed to evaluate the candidate’s ability and aptitude to pursue the study of Law. The Test consists of three parts, each carrying 40 marks. The questions will be of objective type and include multiple choice questions, matching items, and questions arising out of a small passage containing basic information.

Maximum Marks: 120
Duration: 90 minutes
Part-A (40 questions):
(a) General Knowledge (30 Marks)
(b) General Mental Ability (10 Marks)
Part-B (40 questions):
Current Affairs (40 Marks)
Part-C (40 questions):
Aptitude for the Study of Law (Legal Aptitude)
The questions in Aptitude for the Study of Law, do not assume an in depth knowledge of the principles of law, but are intended to test the power of reasoning and of application of stated principles to a given set of facts. However, elementary knowledge of the basic principles of the Law and Constitution of India on the part of the student is assumed.
Note: For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Intermediate level and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Degree Level.
